Pollinator Camp
DC Natives created a community pollinator garden on-site at the community center at 3030 G Street SE.
The garden was built, designed and planted with the direct help and input of the children who attend its summer day camp. Ranging in age from 3-16, campers moved dirt and planted plants. They take responsibility for watering and weeding in shifts throughout their summers at the camp.
Every summer since, DC Natives has worked with campers to maintain and expand the existing pollinator gardens and continues to provide environmental education with a pollinator-based curriculum focused on science, gardening and cooking with food that rely on pollinators to grow and produce.
DC Natives looks forward to continuing its connection to the summer camp and the flourishing gardens.
